Wretched I

"Alas, Sovereign, why save the Wretched I?

Christ,
Spoke fervor words of blessings, love, hope, and truth
Wretched I cursed, accused, denied, and betrayed

Christ,
Healed and blessed the weak with his hands
Wretched I drove the nails unto his hands

Christ,
Washed the feet of the weary and brokenhearted
Wretched I dug the nails unto his feet

Christ,
Clothed me well like the wild man of Gerasenes.
Wretched I stripped you naked and gambled your robe mine

Christ,
Walked patiently with me side by side
Wretched I fiercely rejected him and pierced his side

Christ,
Cherished and held onto me
Wretched I held onto sin

Alas, Sovereign, why save the Wretched I?"
